Chilean driver Facundo Opawsky has always shown his talent and consistency throughout every RallyMobil race. He had the chance to prove his great competitive level at Río Bueno – La Unión and, just as he did in Frutillar, added up points so as to remain within the leading positions.
Opawsky finished second on the first day and won on Sunday, as well as the Super Special Stage, totalling 27 points, which left him third at the R2 championship standings. Hence we’ve named him revelation of the round again (the first time was Los Ángeles); he has demonstrated to have the tools to further progress with the same crushing pace and, who knows, we might see him later, maybe next season, at a larger category.
It’s been a key round for a driver who has even more to give and who, by the side of his co-driver Álvaro Rosas, seems to feel at ease on each section. Four of the 14 special stages contended in Río Bueno and La Unión were headed by Opawsky, amongst which was the Super Special (Río Bueno – Ralicura, of 4.19 km), broadcasted by TVN and Fox Sports.
In addition to this, he managed his times very well, without taking any unnecessary risks during the end of Saturday, when it was almost impossible for him to catch up to Emilio Fernández, leader of the round until then. But, on Sunday, Facundo came out giving it everything he had, to show he was there to fight for a place on the podium… Mission accomplished!
