Francisco Chaleco López is the new leader on the SxS general standings board after Rally Dakar’s third day. The Copec driver managed to get past the 331 Wednesday kilometers in second place.
The Chilean kicked off ahead after his triumph on Tuesday. Then he moved to the runner-up spot and finally finished on such position with a time of four hours, 38 minutes and one second.
The day was won by Spaniard Gerard Farrés Güell, who completed the day with two minutes and three seconds ahead of Chaleco. Nevertheless, the Chilean succeeded in closing the gap with Reinaldo Varela, who was leader until yesterday and is now at the top of his category.
The fourth day will be disputed between Arequipa and Tacna throughout a distance of 664 kilometers.
