The RallyMobil driver Francisco “Chaleco” López continues to make a great race at Dakar 2019 and he has now added a triumph on the second day of competition to the second place he achieved on the first day.

This one went from Pisco to San Juán de Marcona over 342 km, to open the real Dakar. The Copec driver established his own terms and leaded in his SxS throughout most of the day. He came in first at the fifth check point; when half of the special stage was disputed, Chaleco remained at the top and crossed the finish line as the leader with a time of 4 hours, nine minutes and 47 seconds.

After the victory, Francisco López kept his second place in the general standings and is now 1 minute eight seconds off reaching leader Reinaldo Varela.

The third 331 km timed stage goes from San Juán de Marcona to Arequipa. López will probably seek the victory that shall enable him to head the standings table.
