RallyMobil Championship has had all sorts of events this year. The last news bursting in this 2018 season is the retirement of Marcelo Pérez and sons, Nicolás Pérez and Diego Pérez, who will be definitely absent during the fourth round at Vicuña. They confer responsibility to the organization’s resolution about the Frutillar conflict with the Point Cola Team, specifically with the Martín Scuncio and Javiera Román duo. This car 65 pair is accused of hitting Nicolás Perez´s car on the road, and the co-driver of committing verbal aggression afterwards.
We talked to Nicolás, driver at the R2 Lite category, in order to get the official version about the reasons of this decision, and he revealed his annoyance with some of the championship’s drivers. “Some people change when things begin to turn out well for them and this sullies the competition and RallyMobil’s good environment. We seek having a nice time while competing and my opinion is that the organization’s resolution was not taken as we expected, after what happened in Frutillar, so I’d rather continue to support regional races and my family thinks the same way; this is why we won’t go to Vicuña. We might be at Río Bueno again, since it’s near by, but that’s all,” stated the driver.
The Pérez Family’s union within a sports structure made them decide all together. According to Nicolás, his father and brother stood by him at once; they like having fun during the races and this is not possible under these conditions. We asked Nicolás if there is any chance they could change their minds, but he pointed that they don’t feel like participating at this time, and that they will certainly be back during the World Championship round.
