Just a few days away from the beginning of Rally Australia, the Hyundai Team confirmed they have introduced a technical modification in advance, planned to be assembled at the WRC i20 in Rally Montecarlo 2019. The improvement is about new cylinder lids. To apply such evolution, they have decided to take an additional engine, which was installed only in Thierry Neuville’s car.

These will provide about a ten percent higher power and torque. Like this, the Belgian will be able to reach a breakthrough, since he won’t have to open the way.

The Hyundai driver has arrived to the last rally of the season only three points behind the competition’s leader, Sébastien Ogier. We’re talking about 204 points of the French against 201 of the Belgian. Ott Tänak has 184 points, so he has a smaller chance and is expecting for some incident to put one of his rivals out. If Ogier and Neuville are delayed and have trouble adding up points and the Estonian snatches victory, he will then be able to get the world champion crown. Otherwise, if he doesn’t, the fight will be between the French and the Belgian.
